From Research to Investable Products: Why Trading Central Launched ETFs

Trading Central now has seven ETFs trading in Canada and across Europe. Here’s why a research provider decided to build investable products, and what that means for brokers in North America and Europe.

For 27 years, Trading Central has done one thing: enable brokers to help their clients invest smarter through research that turns complex market signals into actionable insights.

So when we listed four ETFs on the Toronto Stock Exchange in March, and then three UCITS ETFs in Europe, a fair question came up. Why would a research company launch ETFs at all?

The short answer: if research is good enough to guide a client’s decision, it should also be something clients can invest in directly. And brokers should be the ones offering it.

The gap between insight and action

Brokers already know research drives engagement. Clients who get a clear view of a stock tend to log in more, trade more, and stay longer. That’s why more than 300 platforms put Trading Central analytics in front of more than 160 million users.

However, research can only tell a client what to look at. It still leaves them to build a portfolio, pick the names, size the positions, and keep it all current. For some clients, that’s where momentum slows. The insight is there, but turning it into a well-built portfolio takes time and confidence.

For a broker, that’s a missed opportunity. Closing that gap between insight and action is where investable products come in.

Same research, new format

The Trading Central Quant ETFs aren’t a new strategy. They’re built on the same TC Quantamental Rating® methodology that many brokers already offer their clients as research.

The framework scores eligible stocks across five factor groups: growth, value, income, quality, and momentum. The 50 highest-scoring stocks in each region make up a Solactive TC Quant Index. Each index is equally weighted, capped at 17 stocks per sector, and rebalanced monthly to limit concentration risk. Every ETF in the range tracks one of those indices.

Each market has a partner who knows it best. Solactive built the indices. LongPoint ETFs brought them to Canadian investors. HANetf, Europe’s first white-label UCITS ETF platform, brought them to the EU and UK.

The result is one consistent methodology, available in the wrappers and on the exchanges each market’s brokers actually use.

Ready to offer from day one

Beyond reading Quantamental Ratings on their broker’s platform, investors can now act on them directly, buying a portfolio built on the same logic in a single trade. That shortens the path from research to action. For brokers, it means deeper client relationships, more assets under management, and greater wallet share.

Key advantages:

  • No integration required. The ETFs trade on the TSX, Euronext Paris, Euronext Milan, Euronext Dublin, the LSE, and Börse Frankfurt. If your clients can trade on those venues, they can already access the funds.
  • Coverage across regions. Clients can pick the exposure that fits them, all built on one methodology.
  • Transparent by design. Each ETF tracks a TC Quant Index with publicly disclosed rules and composition, so clients can see exactly what they own.

For brokers in France, there’s an added advantage: all three UCITS ETFs are PEA-eligible, so clients can hold them in a tax-advantaged account.

Conclusion

We didn’t stop being a research company when we launched ETFs. We just gave our research one more way to reach investors.

The same Quantamental Rating that helps clients evaluate a stock on your platform now powers products they can invest in on the exchanges they already use, from Toronto to Frankfurt. For brokers, it’s a simple way to turn insight into action and engagement into assets.
